What is #GirlsinBusiness?
Girls in Business is a social innovation education programme launched by the non-profit organization ORIBI. This program aims to introduce high-school girls to new career pathways by enabling them to practice their agency and create social enterprises addressing issues they face in their communities.
The launch of this program of Innovation Day gathers 100 high-school girls from Cape Town township and hard-to-reach communities supporting them to learn how to transform
problems into ideas for social change through entrepreneurship. To guarantee the success of this event, we are looking for 25 women social entrepreneurs that could support the
girls throughout the day as learning coaches.
What is expected from a learning coach?
Before the Day:
- Participate in online learning coaching training in the
week of the 25th of April 2023 to gain a deep understanding
of activities and, youth-friendly, gender-inclusive practices
for the day.
On the Day:
- Attend the Innovation Day from 8:30 am to 15:30 pm on the
6th of May at Philippi Village.
- Assist with the logistic of the day (assist the participants to
navigate through the day, encourage and help them to fulfil
challenges, get everything they need and overcome any
barriers.
- Support participants to transform the problem they have
identified into an idea of a social enterprise.
- Support participants to present their idea confidently
- Participation in the selection and jury activities
Why you?
For this role, we are looking for women social entrepreneurs that can
be role models for the girls, showcasing that success is a possibility,
and knowing enough about social innovation, design thinking, girl-
focused practices in order to facilitate learning for the girls.
